Kędzierzyn-Koźle to miasto nie tylko siatkarskich mistrzów. Kevin Metel został srebrnym medalistą 25. Ogólnopolskiej Olimpiady Młodzieży w Sportach Halowych w Kielcach.
Zapaśnik z klubu UKS "Olimpijczyk" (kategoria wagowa 65 kg) jest kandydatem do udziału w Mistrzostwach Europy oraz Mistrzostw Świata w swojej grupie wiekowej.
Ogólnopolska Olimpiada Młodzieży to krajowe zawody sportowe, w których startują dzieci i młodzież w wieku szkolnym. OOM odbywa się co roku, począwszy od 1995 roku. W tegorocznej edycji swój udział zapowiedziało ponad 4500 osób z całego kraju, w tym około 3350 zawodników, 790 trenerów i opiekunów, 360 sędziów oraz 40 przedstawicieli polskich związków sportowych.
