30.12.2022 - The first year is behind us!

"Dugnad" has been hosted in Kędzierzyn-Koźle for almost a year. During this time it has already managed to change the shape of the city, integrate residents and improve their quality of life. The project, which is co-financed by "Norwegian" funds, consists of dozens of different ventures.

You can learn about all these initiatives from a website specially dedicated to it: www.dugnad.kedzierzynkozle.pl. A summary of completed undertakings has also appeared in the local press.

Participants of the free classes positively evaluated the discussed topics and expressed confidence that they would use the newly acquired qualifications in their current workplace, thus gaining the possibility of promotion or  salary increase.

22.12.2022 - Dogs are people to

How to properly take care of house animals and read the signals they are sending us? Participants of meeting with Tom Justyniarski found the answers to that. Students from Public Elementary School No. 16 were visited by an unusual guest as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project.

The author of such children's books as "Dog Trouble" and "My Friend the Stork" was accompanied by his faithful friend - a female dog named Lusia. Together they explained many aspects of living with four-legged companions and the rules of proper care for them. The meeting was part of an environmental initiative created by the City Public Library.

19.12.2022 - Therapy in a holiday spirit

This time the theme of the sensory workshop was imposed by the calendar and the approaching Christmas. The last meeting this year had to have a festive character. Salt mass was used to create beautiful Christmas tree ornaments. The whole room also smelled of oranges, cloves and cinnamon.

The free classes are held as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project. They are an opportunity not only for participants to gain new skills, but also a form of integration and therapy for children with disabilities and dysfunctions.

14.12.2022 - Living in harmony with nature

Can philosophy be ecological? This question was answered by the guest of the Municipal Public Library Piotr Stankiewicz - a doctor of humanities and lecturer. The meeting "Ecology, Stoicism, Climate" was part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project.

Stoic philosophers talked a lot about "living in harmony with nature." But what does this mean in our time, in this era of environmental and climate crisis? People who "love wisdom" have a particularly sensitive perspective on these issues. The lecture considered existential themes, which, as it turns out, have very practical implications for our reality. Everyday choices, reducing material and life needs certainly allow our planet, which is increasingly burdened by exuberant consumption, to breathe.

12.12.2022 - Winged neighbors from our city

Not only people are Residents of Kedzierzyn-Kozle. They are also free-living animals that have made their home in the city for good. Lukasz Berlik talked about how to recognize and befriend these winged neighbors. The meeting with a representative of the Opole Nature Society was held as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project.

Lecture dedicated to birds, that we can meet durin everyday walks was organised by the Municipal Public Library. Mainly children and young people took advantage of the invitation. How to live more eco and do recycling at home? That's what students and seniors from Kędzierzyn-Koźle recently learned. During the free workshops, they created shopping bags that gave new life to old materials.

The event, entitled “Less Waste, or Zero Waste for Beginners,” was held as part of an environmental and cultural campaign conducted by the Municipal Public Library, as part of the “Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle” project. In addition to education, intergenerational integration played an important role here, bringing together young people and residents 60+ in one venture.

07.12.2022 - What do young people know about local government?

It turns out that a lot! It was confirmed during the “Social Entrepreneurs” Olympiad. The students showed of their knowledge during a quiz that was concluded in a form of a TV show by the “Europa Iuvenis” association. The event was held as part of the “Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle” project.

The quiz-show “Knowledge of local government and social activism” was held in two age categories.

06.12.2022 - What do worms do on a daily basis?

They are small and there are plenty of them everywhere. However, not everyone realizes how important various kinds of insects are to us. This was discovered by the youngest guests of the City Public Library during a meeting with Katarzyna Bieganska, author of the book "In Wormville".

The meeting with the writer was a part of an ecological and cultural campaign, implemented as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project. Kids learned how great of a role insects and bugs play in the environment, what types of them there are and how they differ from each other. Attentive listeners received a special gift in the form of a book with a special dedication.

The effects of their work exceeded their wildest expectations. Under the watchful eye of instructors, true works of art were created. However, this is not the end of the adventure. At the next meeting all the little sculptors will glaze their works, which for many is the best fun of the whole creative process.

29.11.2022 - Streets full of Santas

For the tenth time, a peloton of Santas will run through our city. This year we can expect about six hundred of them!  You have never seen so many white beards, red hats and bags of gifts. It will be so crowded at the start line thanks to the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project.

Ecology is also about reducing waste production and reusing raw materials. Contrary to what you may think, you don't need advanced technology to do this - anyone can do it at home. How?

This is what the participants of the ecological workshops that were organized as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project found out. They all explored the secrets of recycling, turning old, not used things into small works of art. During the classes, unneeded advertising banners were given a "second life" as shopping bags, and pieces of wood were turned into toy airplanes. It was a fully inclusive event, as the classes at the Municipal Public Library were attended by seniors as well as young people. A sign language interpreter was also invited.

25.11 - How to run a garden using permaculture?

This fascinating subject was explored by the participants of the ecological workshops, held as part of the "Dugnad in Kedzierzyn-Kozle" project. Attendees learned the secrets of nature that can help them cultivate their home gardens in a simple and, most importantly, completely natural way.

The mysterious-sounding "permaculture" is nothing more than ecological cultivation carried out on the model of natural ecosystems, assuming the least possible human interference. During the workshop at Branch No. 1 of the Municipal Public Library, among other things, they debated how to plant plants so that they benefit each other, as well as the significance of fauna in natural gardens.

24.11 - More qualifications obtained under the "Dugnad" project

Participants in free vocational training courses conducted by the Kędzierzyn-Koźle Industrial Park can add new skills to their resumes. More students have passed final exams giving them valuable credentials.

10.11 – It will be a tasteful integration

Nothing brings people closer together than singing, delicious food and grate fun. All stereotypes cease to matter, when we are integrated by culture. Or, like in this case, four of them.

An exceptional event awaits us, it will introduce us to Silesian, German, Romani and Eastern Borderlands customs. The "Concert of Four Cultures", which is well known to residents, will be taking place on November 19 at the "Downtown" sports hall. 17.03.2022 - We got it! New logo of project "Dugnad in Kędzierzyn-Koźle"

Dugnad is a conception, which objective is integration and development of local communities. Those values are also symbolized in the logo of the project being implemented in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. It combines progressiveness, tradition, and hart devoted to this initiative.

Typography in modern style, refers to good neighbour relations, by depicting two nearby houses. Joined together, they create a simplistic and geometrical shape of a heart. Symbolism here is obviously connected to love and respect for other people. Also, the bright green colour is not random – cheerful and hopeful. Similar to the very idea of the Norwegian custom dugnad, practised for generations, based on mutual neighbourly aid, participation in community service, and civic engagement.

Developed logo is simple, transparent, but at the same time, multidimensional. It combines development, respect for neighbourly values and reflects the spirit of community. Exactly like the supposition of the project “Dugnad in Kędzierzyn-Koźle. Integration of residents and improvement of neighbourly relations as foundations of local development“.

The project is co-financed in 85% with The Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2014 – 2021 funds, and in 15% from the state budget.

Working together for a green, competitive and inclusive Europe.
